Break in update: the nice officer let me know a 'suspect' had been apprehended this morning. We were going to do a line-up before I went in to work, but his computer went down and he didn't have photos for me.
I went in to work, but was so freaking tired because I'd had, maybe, six hours of sleep in two days, I told my supervisor what had happened and that I was (am) anxious and tired and stressed and now I have a shit ton of work to do because I need to move and move as fast as possible.
So I gathered some apartment recs and went to one that was open. A two-bedroom 1.5 bath apt. across from Changing Hands for $750 a month, you say? With a garage? Shit, dude, if I drop cable, that's as much as I'm paying for my 1 bed with shit heads throwing rocks through my window. Available on the 12th, you say?
Was GREATLY reassured by this. Drove by another place that turned out to be nearby the Chinese restaurant the Table Top girls went to the one time. The sketchy one with the empty lot out back we all thought we'd be murdered and buried in.
I decided I was going to pass altogether.
I went to IHOP and ate a huge (for me) meal of pancakes and bacon and eggs and hash browns and felt a million times better. Then I went back to my place to a) talk with the apartment staff about my window and moving b) see if I couldn't research a few more places for relocation. I'd barely set my stuff down when the officer called me to say they'd fixed the computer and, if I had time, could they come over to do a photo line up? I said sure thing, and the officer was over at my place in minutes.
It didn't take long. I'd worried it might be difficult to tell or remember or maybe they found a bunch of guys who look a lot a like.
Nope.
Recognized him in a heartbeat.
The officer let me know that yes, the suspect lives 'in my neighborhood' and I told him he didn't need to candy coat it; I'd seen them all out by one of the other places yesterday, and, later, going through somebody's car. He grimaced and nodded, but gave nothing away, only that the kid was responsible for 'several' major calls yesterday and had made one of his other officers (the mustache officer who jumped my fence) very, very, very angry yesterday. Apparently, he got caught by breaking another window--again with a rock--this time, it was a bedroom window and no one was home. However, the homeowner returned to find the guy sleeping in his bed. There was an altercation. Kid ran, but eventually was caught.
Sounds like the cops went on another merry chase, but this time caught the kid. Anywho.
I'm going to take a nice afternoon nap. Will help Kali sew her cosplay tonight and maybe start the packing process. UGH.
