A new year!

A time of reflection and new beginnings!

2013 trundled along a predictable path and then took an INSANE twist into total unpredictability. I won’t regurgitate the crazy nitty-gritty. To say the least, I’m glad the year is over. It could have been much better. It could have been much worse. Somehow I’m back to near-broke (as per usual) and like a tween, am burning up the hours on tumblr and reading fanfic and reading in general and more tumblr (with occasional cat cuddling thrown in there for variety).

Past is past, tho. I want to further my creative skillz and productivity. And my income. Definitely further my income. The only people who say money isn’t everything are Muppets, people living on Sesame Street, and people who already have a lot of money.

I’m not going to post resolutions-those are sea-foam wishes. Ain’t gonna make none of those. What I am going to do is leave myself reminders. Reminders, like, the shit I’ve been putting off doing is the fun stuff in life, the most rewarding stuff in life, the most worthwhile stuff. Cat cuddling? V. important. Sewing? V. important (especially if it’s making a new pencil case). Hosting game nights with friends? Super V. important. Writing sexy book? OMG, SO SUPER V. IMPORTANT! Finishing that Who fanfic? V. important to finish, when u finish, you feel accomplished!

If I’m making any sort of resolution, it’s to do my best to make life a little easier and more fun for the people I care about most. Why? Because so far, that’s probably the best sort of return-on investment I can manage at the moment and in the spirit of transparency, it’s what I wish other people would do for me. In my fantasies, I can dream.

Am off to Sun City for my grandpa’s memorial. It’ll be a low-key thing, as neither Grandma or Grandpa like(d) a brouhaha over somebody dying.  (For Christ’s sake, somebody’s dead. Ain’t nobody happy but the coffin maker).
